THE CHARLESTOWN RATHSKELLER TAVERN: Restaurant rebrand
The Charlestown Rathskeller Tavern is a Rhode Island institution, starting out as a speakeasy in 1933. It is still going strong as a popular dining and entertainment venue, hosting lawn games, weddings, live music, and more on it's expansive property. While the vibe of the restaurant has changed throughout the decades, the branding was stale and left something to be desired.
I was approached to re-design the menu, which was over sized, gate-folded, and lacked consistent branding. The menu re-design became an overall re-branding, including a new logo, menus, signage, and marketing materials.
Since this is a "retro" venue nestled in the woods of southern RI, the client wanted to emphasize a vintage, rustic, and somewhat masculine aesthetic. Taking inspiration from mid-20th century barber shops and alcohol branding, I created logos and iconography to be used alongside ongoing marketing materials which include menus, brochures, outdoor signage, print ads, social media posts, and more.
